Fitchburg

John has been a tireless advocate for Fitchburg’s revitalization and long-term success. During his time in the Senate, he has secured $3 million for Fitchburg State University to renovate Main Street’s historic theater block, over $2 million for the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority to support critical projects, and $840,000 to spur downtown housing production. John also successfully advocated to increase the Housing Development Incentive Program (HDIP) to $30 million per year, incentivizing developers to build market-rate units across the city.

Leominster

When Leominster was hit by a once-in-a-century storm, John worked with community members, non-profits, and elected officials to secure more than $4.2 million in state funds to provide direct relief to residents. John has also secured $300,000 for modular classrooms for Leominster’s public schools, $250,000 to stabilize Monoosnoc Brooke, and $60,000 to support Leominster’s Center for Technical Education Innovation.

Westford

This year in the Senate, John led the fight to increase per pupil aide for students across the Commonwealth, raising the allotment to $110 per pupil, $50 more per student compared to the previous academic year. He also played a key role in crafting the Senate’s tax relief legislation, increasing the senior circuit breaker tax credit, the child and dependent tax credit, and providing targeted relief for seniors, families, and renters.

Groton

John has been a strong supporter of Groton’s trail network and outdoor recreation initiatives. He has secured $150,000 to extend the Squannacook River Rail Trail, which connects Townsend and Groton. John is also a valued partner in Destination Groton’s efforts to increase tourism, highlight the town’s rich history, and fuel economic development.

Clinton

John has played an integral part in supporting Clinton’s seniors, securing $180,000 for the Clinton Council on Aging to provide infrastructure upgrades to support new programming, services, and restore the historic building. John worked closely with Rep. Kilcoyne to continue the legacy of Clinton’s water rights, maintaining state-funded drinking water at no cost to residents in the yearly budget.

Lancaster

John has delivered critical support for Lancaster residents, increasing per pupil aide and general government funding for the town year over year. To ensure that Lancaster residents have access to fresh, nutritious food, John secured $25,000 to improve infrastructure and storm resiliency at Flats Mentor Farm. Additionally, John provided $45,000 for the Lancaster Community Center and Public Library in the state budget to improve the space where community members can access services and resources.

Lunenburg

A native of Lunenburg, John delivered the largest year over year increase in Chapter 70 funding for Lunenburg Public Schools in recent history. He also provided earmarks of $50,000 for hazardous materials abatement at Lunenburg Primary School, $40,000 for infrastructure improvements to the Lunenburg Public Library, $25,000 for the Lunenburg Food Pantry, and more than $100,000 to the Lunenburg Senior Center.

Shirley

In his first term as Shirley’s state Senator, John helped increase funding for Shirley’s public schools and town departments. During the FY25 Budget debate, Senator Cronin obtained $35,000 to study an ADA compliant walkway along the pond at Fredonian Park. John is also an annual sponsor of the Shirley Council on Aging’s Summer Barbecue, where he enjoys the chance to interact with constituents when he isn’t on grill duty!

Ashby

Just months after his first term representing Ashby began, John helped the town of Ashby avoid a budgetary disaster. After a fire at an illegal landfill required a region wide emergency services response, John delivered $200,000 in a supplemental budget to help the town cover first responder overtime and excavation work. Additionally, John secured $10,000 for the Ashby Council on Aging to provide long-awaited infrastructure upgrades to the Council’s meeting space.

Townsend

John provided $50,000 for the Townsend Gazebo during the Legislature’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) appropriations bill, ensuring that this staple of the town common will be present for generations to come. Additionally, John provided more than $17,000 to support Townsend Ecumenical Outreach’s mission, $10,000 to install an ADA complaint lift at the Townsend VFW, and has been the Squannacook Rail Trail’s champion in the legislature.
